NOTE: The sphere letters below are hyperlinked to our Sphere Hub which lists all available spheres sorted by effect!A Spheres - Give him ATK or BRV DMG. ATK helps him battery before his trap and both help him BRV shave
D Sphere - Any ATK boosting sphere is fine. ATK & mBRV is a nice bonus.
How-to-Play Notes
Ace should always start with Jackpot Triad to get to 5 stacks of Suzaku’s Trump Card. In Force Time, you can ignore the free skill uses in order to reapply his trap card!
Before you normally wouldn't want to reapply a trap before enemy turns, but with Force Time asking for as much damage in a small window as opposed to doing decent damage all the time, push that LD and FR echo button all the time as more traps flipped is more damage and each trap is 1 HP attack to each enemy putting him on par with other linked attackers in on turn scenarios without looking at the hole card flipping. (2 HPs accross 2 enemies and 3 HPs accross 3, very nice!)
Mega Burst+ (S1) is your single target bravery shaver.
Greater Spiral Combo+ (S2) is your AoE BRV shave.
Both apply generic buffs however outside of BT phase, you may never use these in Force Time.
Jackpot Shot (EX) provides you with your Card buff. This can be one of 4 cards with varying effects depending on which color is granted, never rely on these though.
Jackpot Triad (LD) gives Ace 3 stacks of his Suzaku’s Trump Card buff and applies Hole Card on all enemies. After Hole Card expires, it applies a powerful trap in the form of Blind Stud Turn which triggers after every turn, player or enemy. Blind Stud Turn does NOT tick down during Burst Phase.
HP+ (Blind Stud Open) applies Hole Card on all enemies. Only use in emergencies as he should have enough LDs and FR echoes for force time.
One of the few units that likes the U6 Crystal Passive
VB Type 100 (BT) grants the party useful auras including HP DMG Limit, but he will need to take a couple turns to max out his stacks. Using his BT phase early is a great way to set it up before Force Time as his damage mainly comes from his non-stop traps.
Feather Brigade (FR) is as close to a Divine Chocobo Summon we're going to get and it asks for:
Any Magic attacks: +5% &
Stacking buff/effect on turn: +40% (roman numerals usually or special cases like Terra Magic, Garland LDCA, Balthier Overhead, etc.)
Not the greatest FR for FR time, but it applies his trap so it's great for reapplying his trap again as FR time is ending for big Echo Damage!
Team Synergy
Ace's trap has some interesting properties as it targets each enemy individually. This lets it trigger some effects more than once; most notably are Laguna's BT trap and Dorgann's follow-up on break.
For Dorgann's follow-up, pairing Ace and Dorgann with Sephiroth or Iris will allow for 2+ breaks and follow ups on most turns which is great for Dorgann's Force Time and is still a strong combo many months later.
