7 HG Armor: Attack

Gameplay Notes:

  • Stunning Slash is great to open with against the boss wave or a tanky wave. With the debuff only being 4T duration, be mindful of when enemies clease their debuffs, you may need to wait a few turn cycles before you can reapply it safely.

  • Awakening is your go-to free/instant turn, and is the preferred choice for his free skill use after LD. This is also used to upkeep his critical Awakening buff, but note that it is not difficult at all to maintain.

  • Furious Blades (his HP+ variant) is Machina’s bread & butter. You will nearly always hold this down on each of Machina’s turns to see if Machina can jump his turn up (unless you need to maintain a buff). The more turns that Machina takes, the more he does his AoE follow-up attack = more damage!

  • Cyclone Drive is mostly used as a strong BRV shave skill, or when Machina is being targeted and you want to avoid being broken, thanks to its BRV refund

  • Guardian Blades is his way to shave BRV AoE, so sometimes you might want to save this if you know big BRV gains are coming.


Team Synergy Notes:

  • Standard team comp as the graphic says: Machina + Support + Utility. Just make sure Support & Utility allies can handle the Lufenia orb, healing/ATK auras, etc. For basic teambuilding information, check here!

Spheres:

  • A spheres - Focus on vanilla ATK boosts (no PATK for example) or alternatively, BRV DMG spheres. More ATK fuels his BRV gains on his follow-up while BRV DMG boosts the damage on his hits more than ATK would.

  • B sphere - Celes is best as he takes a lot of turns, and he can’t inflict Lock. The only other reasonable choices would Gabranth, WoL, or Kimahri. You also can just slot the elite Gabranth refined sphere which is compatible on any character with a B slot.


Bad passives (if you lack enough CP to equip important passives):

  • BRV Reprieve is trash and literally does nothing!

  • Guardian Blades Focused Attack (ONLY vs AoE fights, remember to equip vs 1 enemy)

  • DEF passives

  • Bonus Up All (it’s a borderline good effect)
