Summon Board Passive selections:

  • Brothers choose 3 / 4 / 5

    • The minimal boost to Stone is better than 5% HP DMG reduction since she has last stand

  • Odin choose 4 / 6 / 7

  • Bahamut choose 3 / 4 / 6

  • Usuals:

    • Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh 4 / 5 / 7

How-To-Play Notes

  • Y’shtola starts with her Blood Lily effect and gains a stack after each of her turns, since all of her buttons involve a BRV gain. While gaining stacks will give you access to Aero II, you will want to skip that until you get her Misery attack, which will drop stacks back to 0.

  • Stone is an earth attack, single target BRV shave & delay. If the enemy absorbs earth, this is actually advantageous, since they will absorb the BRV hits and get delayed, allowing another ally to break the enemy again, pushing them back further.

  • Medica II is free to press whenever you want as Y’shtola has incredible longevity. A big battery & heal as a free turn is very useful.

  • Pulse of Life recharges in 3 skill uses… unless those 3 are all Stone. The high turn rate means you’ll generally be a sliver short. Thankfully, Medica II heals, so you no longer need to hold her EX charge or rush to it for a big heal like in her EX+ days.

  • Holy of the Seventh Dawn isn’t tied to any buffs or debuffs, but it does unbreak enemies, so it’s a good pocket delay or AoE shave.

  • Spiritual Ray’s burst effect is only active if the party member’s current BRV is more than their iBRV stat, so make sure they are batteried up before their turn, or they get none of the benefits.

    • You likely won’t use her BT in your main party unless it’s the only one.

Team Synergy Notes

  • Pair her with someone that has premium support (Like Paladin Cecil, Balthier, Celes, Jack, check more on our roles page) and fill out the team with a strong damage dealer. Just be sure to counter the Lufenia orb if needed.

Sphere Recommendations

  • C spheres: Focus on auras primarily. She doesn’t have Encouragement armor, so save your Paladin Cecil RF spheres for others. Alphinaud is certainly best for her.

  • E sphere: Giving her an aura E sphere isn’t a bad idea either, but if she is your absolute favorite and you insist on giving her the best, then look to Seymour, Emperor, Yuffie, but remember that she can only trigger this when debuffing, so if enemies resist her DEF down debuff from Stone, she can never proc it.

Removable Passives

  • Presence of Mind (her BRV never really hits 0 due to BRV gains, this is a waste of CP)

  • BRV Attack+ Up (never uses it… ever)

  • BRV Guard Up (rarely useful, especially since she has Last Stand)

  • Bonus Up All (marginal effect)
