E Spheres - He can boost his own ATK (and mBRV) with spheres after he places debuffs like Yuffie, Seymour, Emp, etc.
How to Play Notes
He's a fast utility unit with delete, debuffs and limited healing/battery.
Along with being fast, he gets free turns from breaking. You can't get another free turn from breaking.
You can use an instant turn rate ability like Mug/AA to go again, and then break & delete another enemy, to essentially get 4 turns in a row, 2 of them free.
NOTE: You don't want to go too fast in FR time, but thanks to FR Retain you can go as fast as you want after having a good FR time! If he's a favorite, he needs FE50 a bit more than other units (as does his team) to make the most of FR retain if you can't kill in FR time.
Stellar Circle 5+ (S1) is mainly single target focused and it refreshes Thief’s Mark, Thievery and his SPD down debuff.
Free Energy+ (S2) is his best normal skill and it refreshes Thief’s Mark, Thievery and his DEF down debuff.
Booster 8+ (EX) initiates a launch on the main target while making all other enemies ready to launch. Booster 8+ also gives you access to the BRV variant, Mug for 1 use.
Mug (transformed BRV) is an instant turn rate BRV+HP attack that does not consume BRV, gravities, and gives Zidane a free instant turn. After use it reverts to BRV++. The free instant turn is best used on Free Energy+ if you're not in force time.
Solution 9 (LD) unbreaks the target before attacking, enduring a delay through break. It also applies Zidane’s overhead, A Place to Call Home. This overhead provides numerous stat buffs but most importantly allows Zidane to delete an opponent’s turn whenever he breaks them as well as gaining a free turn(read the above caveats to this). If that wasn’t enough, it also gives Zidane a special 1 times use HP+ attack and a free ability use next turn.
HP+ (Solution 9) will unbreak the target similarly to how Solution 9 does, ensuring another break and turn delete. Keep in mind that if you use this immediately following Solution 9, you will not get another turn as you are already in a free turn. This HP+ is best saved for emergency uses in case breaks do not come easily on Zidane’s turns due to mistakes or boss mechanics allowing you to have an emergency break. Just do not forget to use it before using Solution 9 again. Oh, and another free ability use just in case this wasn’t useful enough.
Grand Lethal (BT) allows Zidane to steal an elixir every time he inflicts a debuff (every turn). This heals the party by their max HP. Any excess healing is converted to BRV and then the party is batteried by 50% of Zidane’s mBRV(100% for ⅔ BT+). With his rework, he also provides HP DMG Limit to the party with some extra to himself.
If you opt for the BT phase rushdown, you want to run Enna LDCA and U4 to fit as many EXs in phase as possible. Otherwise, his damage isn't very impressive since he is meant to go fast and do a little less damage over the course of his free turns. That's where FR retain and his break + free turns come in.
Crystal Energy (FR) is very easy to fulfill as it asks for:
Attack target with at least 1 debuff: 40%
Attack a broken target: 40%
It also comes with a 20% HP DMG Limit boost in FR time!
Team Synergy
He loves linked attackers; whether you BT phase rushdown or take a lot of turns in FR retain, he appreciates the additional HP attacks linked attackers provides.
His turn stealing may be an issue in fights where enemies have FR times with annoying effects. Pair him with an FR charger and race the enemy FR before letting him go full monke.
