Sphere Recommendations
NOTE: The sphere letters below are hyperlinked to our Sphere Hub which lists all available spheres sorted by effect!A Spheres - BRV DMG is best, but ATK is also great. Too many to recommend here, check our Sphere Hub with the link.
D Sphere - Choose any ATK sphere that isn’t Wakka or Deuce :) all the others work great with her
Her own sphere is incredibly unique, and makes the most sense on someone with Encouragement Keystone to exploit the BRV gain on the sphere. We would say the best choices are those that attack outside of their turns, so Galuf, Snow, Beatrix, or Gladio.
How-To-Play Notes
Start with EX as it's fully charged and everything else is already up.
Her LD, Rise from Ashes, to gain her Phoenix effect, which is loaded with the bulk of her auras. This is a big burst heal, but it’s primarily used to upkeep her effect, or to get a free skill use. The effect is Iroha’s claim to fame, as she will allow your party to retain 20% of their BRV in between each of their HP attacks!
The free skill use is best used on her AA, Recast Half Attack Up as it fills her EX gauge and grants her decent buffs.
Her EX is Kyoka Suigetsu, and it’s the most unique in the game, as Iroha can use it twice. Upon the first use, the recast gauge won’t deplete, and she will gain access to a + version of it, which just provides more battery to allies. This normally takes 3 skills to recharge, and with her AA, she can easily spam skills. Also note using the freshly filled EX will give her another turn right after using it!
If your EX isn’t charged, and your effect has many turns left, use Fuga Kakunetsu (S2+) if you have it. It has a double BRV dump, which synergizes nicely with her BRV retention.
If you only have base Fuga as your S2, you’ll want to use your S1, Choun. This is a nice party heal with a small battery, and it will enable your S2+. You can essentially alternate between these skills.
Kinen no Isshi (FR) is very simple and asks for:
Max HP on turn by acting member (30%) &
Acting member has at least 20% of their mBRV still held
This makes it a great FR for "supercharging" strategies where a non attacking unit uses a non attacking skill for an extra 50% on top of the 50% for fulfilling the previous conditions for 100% HP DMG bonus before passing turns for bigger hits down the line.
Eternal Rhapsodies (BT) provides her BT effect and a true HP attack after a unit's attacking phase.
This means units like Cor, Beatrix, Raines, traps, counters, linked attackers can all have an extra HP attack tacked onto the end of their little attack windows HOWEVER
This HP attack that shows up is not effected by HP DMG modifiers including FR bonus (like Leo LD effect, Lunafreya's Heavy prayer, Jack Garland's BT effect. These effects can all stack.)
It also doesn't trigger on regular hp attacks in launch, but will work with Impact Strike/Seraphic Charge and Keiss' transformed midair HP attack.
Team Synergy Notes
Iroha with BT is a solid support however her BT effect's true hp attack takes 5 of her own turns for best results.
A main damage dealer to take advantage of her support is advised. Whether they're an aggresive BT unit or a counter unit, she helps anyone by just standing there with auras and an FR you can use.
With BT+ and HA+ she provides 45% HP DMG Limit to the party! Not the highest (Ramza offers 51% fully ramped up) but it's still really high!
Removable Passives
NOTE: Passives should generally only be removed if you lack CP space. There are very rare occasions where a character has a bad passive that disrupts their optimal gameplay.BRV Attack++ HP Attack++ Up (you’ll never use either of these, she has great longevity)
Rise From Ashes Focused Attack (this won’t do anything in AoE fights, and with her having split/splash damage across her kit, you really shouldn’t ever need this. If you do remove it, just remember to add it back if you do go against a single target!)
Break Speed Up (10% SPD boost for a turn after breaking… This is fine to remove and it won’t make much of a difference, if any… in turn order specifically)
Break Bonus Up (20% BREAK Bonus increase when Iroha breaks… this is marginal at best)
