Sphere Recommendations
NOTE: The sphere letters below are hyperlinked to our Sphere Hub which lists all available spheres sorted by effect!A Spheres - Focus on buffing ATK & BRV DMG but avoid ranged/magic ATK type boosts as she has a mixed kit
King, Noel, Eight and her own are standout spheres for her and Cyan’s is quite nice as well for some more overflow
E Sphere - Most spheres focusing on ATK are great for her, and as for debuff inflicting spheres, really mBRV or DEF Down are the only ones that stand out. We recommend against giving her SPD Down based spheres.
How-To-Play Notes
Cater is either using EX to reapply her trap, LD to reapply freeze/LD buff or Wide Shot (Max Charge) for damage. She won't be using BT phase for damage so feel free to use it to setup.
Charge Shot (BRV) can now go between Charged Shot (Charge Lvl 1) (BRV) and (Charge Shot (Max Charge). Both of these attacks have high turn rate so be careful if you want a slower FR time.
Wide Shot (HP) also has (Charge Lvl 1) and (Max Charge) variations. Max Charge version is as strong as EX and LD so it's a fine filler ability.
Triple Slip (S2) to never let her Charge & Dodge buff fall off or FR Gauge fill, it’s key to her evasion. Her FR can also reapply it so don't worry about wasting turns in FR time.
If you would like more uses of Triple Slip for more charging, get her cursed artifact Charge Blizzard Triple Slip Charge**
Blizzara ROK (S1) can finally upkeep her lock debuff consistently for a few turns keeping enemies focused on Cater so she can counter more.
Note that her counter & Land Mine are magic while her Charged/Wide shot are Ranged, but it really doesn't matter at all. Cater should be hitting weakness at all times after using her EX!
Consecutive Rounds (EX) lowers enemy Ice Resistance, and reapplies Land Mine.
Land Mine (trap from EX) triggers after an enemy's turn passes with some healthy damage, however it only happens once.
Frost Stilling Shot (LD) refreshes her LD buff - a very important buff for her damage and makes her evasion reliable! It also applies her unique Freeze debuff (enemies can't gain or steal BRV).
When she dodges an enemy attack she will counter with 3 ST HPs
MAX Frost Explosive Shell (BT) provides the entire party with 100% evasion and Cater's counter will trigger twice when she dodges along with the usual stat boosts. This and her rework make her a reliable dodge & counter unit in a team setting keeping allies safe with evasion or freeze and dealing some comfy damage while she is attacked.
Cheerful Yell (FR) heavily favors an off-turn approach with traps/counters as it asks for:
Any Ice Ability : +5%
Anyone evades : +50% (once per enemy attack)
It also provides Ice enchant to the party (with LD boards), enemies can't steal or gain BRV (Freeze aura) along with some HP DMG & Limit boosts for hitting elemental weakness.
Team Synergy
While she can solo some content similar to Kelger, he is a DPS unit with a lock aura and does nothing to help the team outside his puny AA. Cater succeeds in both a solo unit AND a team player as she keeps allies safe if you want to run her with trap units.
We've had a few paralyze units come out before her release and they actively work against her as she wants them to attack as she really wants to counter since her on-turn damage is not great.
If focusing heavily on enemy turns, give her crystal passives D3, D6 and a third of your choice to slow her down and counter more.
