How-To-Play Notes
These notes are thanks to the work of Renki#4255, who proactively wrote these notes, allowing Ink to edit & add them here.TLDR: Aphmau will typically want to start with either her EX or LD depending on how soon you need her turn swapping to begin. You may also use Puppeteer Buff Long to go from EX to the HP+ and BRV+ variants into the LD without having to use any skill in between. If you feel like buff space is limited (Aphmau gives 3 buffs to all allies and 4 buffs to her “puppet”) you can skip the BRV+ if you do not need the mitigation/healing. Due to her lengthy amount of turn manipulation, she is ideally paired with slow heavy hitter such as Vaan or Cinque or most popularly Cid Raines who is able to swap back to Aphmau. See below for the RainesMau usage combo! Other valuable allies to bring up include Jegran, Machina, Cinque and Enna Kros!
Do not feel obligated into a rotation with Aphmau ever, don't be afraid to LD if you need to pull up an ally, and don't worry about maintaining her own buffs, just maintain ally buffs.
Victory Smite (LD) is loaded - it gives an ally her puppet buff, also her LD buff, and her EX overhead, all at once.
Her puppet buff (Tactical Switch) will grab the selected ally to act right after Aphmau, and the buff also provides great stats up. The faster your attacker, the less use they will get out of the turn swapping from this buff. Avoid wasting these turns with your ally's AAs... calls are OK though.
Ovjang and Mnejing (EX overhead) gives 2 instant turns with transformed BRV/HP. These BRV/HP gives buffs to the party, the HP being offensive, the BRV being healing/defensive/debuff evasion. If you're short on buff slots, just use HP twice, otherwise mix them each time.
You can also get her EX overhead turned on from her EX, which is charged at quest start. It recharges in 2 skills roughly, but again, Aphmau's general priority is maintaining her LD buff on a strong attacking ally.
If you foresee the boss not being dead from these turn shenanigans, then you can use Aphmau's base skills, but they don't hold much value since Aphmau's primary value with LD comes from her turn manipulation and support
Shield Subverter (S1) is a party battery that gives the party the Automaton buff and Aphmau her Mnejing’s Tactics. Automaton is a BRV regen for the party and Mnejing’s Tactics gives Aphmau strong stat buffs and 100% debuff evasion.
Sixth Element (S2) also gives the Automaton buff to the party and Aphmau’s Ovjang’s Tactics to herself. Ovjang’s Tactics provides more stat buffs to Aphmau. Sixth Element also reduces the enemies’ speed.
