Summon Board Passive selections:

  • Odin choose 3 / 5 / 7 (4 vs 5 is a close call, up to you, we're changing to 5 because 7% stats vs 5% stats for someone that deeply cares about iBRV).

  • Bahamut choose 4 / 5 / 6

  • For any summons not shown here, please use our Board Passives Cheat Sheet located on Summon Hub!

Additional Weapons

  • Manikin Weapon: Adds S1 40% BRV gain & S2 BRV DMG +10%

    • Acquire by finishing Act 2, Chapter 5 and going to Chapter 5.8

Supplementary Notes to the Infographic Analysis:

The infographic covers the key critical points and should be reviewed prior to delving into the in-depth notes

Gameplay Notes:

  • Shining Shield is his bread and butter. Pay attention to your allies’ shield values and make sure to refresh when they get low. This also batteries in a pinch.

  • Throw Buckler is your best way to taunt enemies, but also is a great option for shaving enemies.

  • Bitter End is his source of auras and HP DMG mitigation, so do try to keep it up at all times. If you lack his BT, then you might consider saving the first use of this for a few turns until bosses start to buff their stats at 80% HP.

  • HP++ is your go to, be sure to use Shining Shield if you see HP+

Team Synergy Notes:

  • Stack iBRV & regens for heavy battery teams, check our buffs here: BRV Regen & iBRV auras

  • Be careful with *very* fast characters & turn stealers, since they may run through his shield - but you also can just pay attention of when they will take a lot of turns, and don't needlessly refresh shield at that time

  • WoL is otherwise extremely flexible in team comp, enabling various team comps due to his wide role coverage

Sphere Recommendations:

  • A sphere - Consider giving him a sphere that boosts iBRV - he's a great option for the iBRV/mBRV and ATK/iBRV spheres - save your BRV DMG spheres for your damage dealers.

  • B sphere - He still doesn’t have last stand… so Kimahri’s is great, and Gabranth’s will help your party shields last a bit longer, even his refined sphere is solid for WoL

  • D sphere - Focus iBRV, but really any lying around are fine for him (except Wakka). Notable ones would be Edward and Ramza, as well as Aphmau. You can also opt for one of the ATK spheres, perhaps budget Lyse if you prefer.

Bad Passives (that can be removed if you need CP space):

  • BRV Reprieve will never trigger and is utter garbage, remove it

  • Bravery HP Damage

  • BRV Guard Up
