Sphere Recommendations
A Sphere - Focus on boosting ATK/mBRV/iBRV primarily, there are many options to choose from
C Sphere - Focus on boosting ATK/iBRV or battery and avoid any spheres that trigger on self healing !
E Sphere - Their own sphere is great for them. Avoid debuff inflicting spheres, so alternatively opt for auras like Fujin/Faris. Stat boosts from Yuffie, Kefka, etc are great as well!
How-To-Play Notes
Crystal Idol (LD) is your limited use big delete & battery, but in many quests is known for its 100% gravity effect. Ami retains their number of stacks even if the buff falls off, so you can aim to use this when you need a big delete, potentially if a launch is ready. Alternatively, you can save uses vs bosses that have massive BRV DMG reduction, and leverage the 100% gravity.
Your other delete option is Mega Flare (S2), though it only deletes a single enemy turn even those it shaves AoE. Use it whenever you need some breathing room, or if you want to reapply Ami’s DEF & SPD framed debuffs.
Comet (S1) is used to maintain your framed buff, as well as drop the very useful Turn Rate Down debuff. It only shaves a single enemy, so be careful of that.
How are speed and turn rate different? Well they do different things, but the easiest way to explain it, is to compare it to a classic ATB bar in the older FF titles, or FF7R:
Speed in DFFOO is like shortening your ATB bar, so that you get another turn faster
Turn Rate in DFFOO is like allowing your ATB bar to fill faster so that after you take an action, you can take another action more quickly.
Stacking debuffs for both of these via debuff with Ami creates bigger gaps in enemy turns.
Yuke’s Ultimate Magic (EX) is a strong AoE shave into 100% damage. It takes a long time to recharge, at 3 skill uses (or 2 skills / 2 HP++).
BRV+ is a 75% gravity if you need it and don’t have LD uses left or don’t want to use it then. HP++ is more of your go to, and only has 50% gravity. Neither of these BRV shave enemies with hits so they can’t break enemies!
Team Synergy Notes
Pair with characters few to no debuffs if you rely on debuffing calls
If you’re just utilizing Ami as a call and don’t have room for debuffs, remove Ami’s Light of Aspiration Extension from Equipment passives. You may need to unequip the EX to do this. When you call Ami LD, only 1 debuff for iBRV Down will be applied to the enemy, not 4. If you do the base call, only the Turn Rate Down debuff will be applied.
Removable Passives
Very limited options since Ami has relevant passives across the board…
DEF passives
BRV Attack++ HP Attack++ Up (only remove when paired with a a very strong damage dealing BT character, otherwise this is needed for longevity sake)
