Sphere Recommendations
NOTE: The sphere letters below are hyperlinked to our Sphere Hub which lists all available spheres sorted by effect!C Spheres - Paladin Cecil and/or his RF sphere is absolutely best to pair with her Encouragement armor. If you don’t have these, then Maria is the best of the rest.
D Sphere - Queen, Wakka, Cissnei, or any of the ATK boosting D spheres work well
How-To-Play Notes
Yuna is a very flexible ally, with her abilities more like tools for different situations but you’ll generally want to open with Cheer to get her buffs active and start spamming Energy Ray++ from there (unless you need to remove debuffs).
She's useful for FR gauge filling as her S1 and S2 both don't have BRV/HP attacks which she can do right away. Just make sure to refresh Valefor and EX + LD buffs before she starts attacking in Force Time!
Sonic Wings++ to hit a single target, or to refund BRV if you’re trying to avoid getting broken, as it’s a good party battery
Energy Ray++ to shave AoE, or just attack multiple targets! This is her most used attack in 2 target fights.
Esuna (S1) to extend party buffs by a turn, or to remove debuffs from the party.
Cheer (S2) for a huge party HP heal, or to maintain her average buffs.
Energy Blast/Summon Valefor (EX) in single target fights or boss with 2 minions as it hits much harder to a single target with some splash.
Energy Nova (LD) to maintain your excellent party aura or when your party is debuffed AND you need to shave an enemy quickly.
The Sending (BT) offers tons of support, even more when the party has no debuffs (make use of that S1, LD or FR)! With one of the highest damaging BT finishers in the game, she can make for a good damage dealer (especially with her own FR time).
Banishing Stroke (FR) removes debuffs from the party, grants the party debuff evasion (so she's always super buffing the party) and asks for:
Transformed BRV/HP Commands (+40%) &
Acting with no debuffs (+20% for allies, +40% for Yuna)
This can become +90% for yuna if she uses S1/S2 in Force Time.
Doing so a couple times before entering burst phase is strategy similar to Rinoa pressing S2 a couple times
Team Synergy Notes
Rare buff extender… only Hope, Sazh, & Eiko can also extend party buffs
Stacking blue armors with her BT effect can result in some truly high HP DMG Limits
Pair her with linked attackers to boost her damage even higher during Burst Phase. Launches from Raines LDCA or Selphie's Rapture debuff also help!
See our Roles page for characters with debuff evasion if you are tackling a quest with frequent debuffs and don't want your auras to suffer if using another FR.
Removable Passives
NOTE: Passives should generally only be removed if you lack CP space. There are very rare occasions where a character has a bad passive that disrupts their optimal gameplay.Starting Veil (50% chance to dodge debuffs for the first 3 turns… generally will not have an impact on a fight…)
Fayth's Refuge Guard Up (30% DEF up is nothing to write to Yevon about)
Fayth's Refuge Base Up (10% iBRV is a fairly non impactful stat boost)
BRV Guard Up (why the heck does Yuna have so many DEF passives…)
Esuna BRV Gain (fairly minor iBRV BRV gain on Esuna is very lackluster)
